Watermelon Basil Frosé

This is the ultimate refreshing summer cocktail—a frozen concoction of rosé wine, watermelon, lime, and basil. Serves 4


  • ½ cup sugar

  • ½ cup lime juice

  • 2½ cups watermelon, chopped

  • 3 ounces triple sec

  • 1 bottle rosé wine

  • 2 tablespoons fresh basil, chopped

  • Basil sprigs

  • Watermelon slices


  1. In a small sauce pot over medium-high heat, gently simmer sugar and lime juice until sugar has devolved, creating a simple syrup.

  2. In a food processor, combine lime simple syrup, watermelon, and triple sec, and blend until pureed. Pour mixture into a large bowl.

  3. Whisk in rosé and fresh basil, and pour into a large container. Cover, and freeze until slushy.

  4. Serve with basil sprigs and watermelon slices.

Tips: This recipe will take about 12–24 hours to slush up-depending on your freezer’s settings.
